Judges will be looking for a clear and concise overview of the company or team; clear and identifiable objectives; details of recent achievements and quality results; and examples of best practice in the wind industry in Europe and by European companies. They will focus on impressive results and specific examples in the period from January 2018.
Investor of the Year
Have you completed a deal of outstanding size or complexity? Are you achieving returns higher than the competition? Or are you introducing innovations that will change the way wind projects are financed? Then this is the category for you. Judges will be looking for a leading investor that demonstrates that they have achieved impressive results in wind over the past 12 months.
Developer of the Year
Do your onshore and/or offshore projects outshine the competition? Can you show a track record of delivering value to energy buyers, communities and shareholders? Have you completed a huge pipeline or projects or helped to take wind farms into new countries? Judges will be looking for a leading developer with a strong track record of delivering successful and profitable projects.
Utility of the Year
Is your energy supplier playing a key role in driving the growth of onshore and/or offshore wind? Have you delivered outstanding projects that can help your customers to make wind a bigger part of their energy use? Are you working on innovations and/or projects that rivals can only admire? Judges will be looking for a leading utility that can show impressive results in the last 12 months.
Manufacturer of the Year
Are you working on turbines or other technology innovations that will improve the business case of wind for years to come? Are your products and services helping wind investors to unlock new opportunities across the world? Do you go the extra mile for customers? Judges are looking for a leading manufacturer that wind couldn’t do without. Large or small, we want to hear them all!
Advisory of the Year
Do you give financial and/or technical advice that your clients in the wind industry couldn’t do without? Do you come up with deal structures or innovative solutions that make things happen? Can you wow our judges with your track record of success in the last 12 months? Judges will be looking for an advisory firm – financial or technical – that simply makes itself indispensable.
Law Firm of the Year
Has your law firm worked on wind deals of outstanding size or complexity? Is your practice full of lawyers who demonstrate a strong mix of commercial, legal and technical nous? If your client has a problem, why do they call you first? Based on the success of our Legal Power List, we are looking for a leading law firm with an impressive track record of making the tough deals happen.
Start-Up of the Year
Have you launched within the last five years? Do you have an innovative product or service that is set to disrupt the wind market and shake up larger rivals? Can you demonstrate an impressive financial record that will support those grand plans? Our judges are looking for a start-up that is having an impact on the market and will help others in the market go from strength to strength.
Note: We will consider purely wind firms and those in associated areas such as energy storage.
Lender of the Year
Do you know a bank or other financial institution that is having a significant impact on wind in Europe? Are you lending the funds that make major deals happen offshore and/or onshore? Are you notable for the volume of funds you lend, or finding financial structures that rivals haven’t considered? Judges will be looking for a lender that can demonstrate their impressive results.
Onshore Project of the Year
Is your onshore wind farm worthy of recognition? If you have completed a 10MW-plus onshore wind farm in Europe since the start of 2018 then this category is for you. Judges are looking for a project that has delivered impressive results for investors, energy users, the local community and other stakeholders. They are particularly keen to hear about projects with exciting innovations.
Offshore Project of the Year
Have you worked on a groundbreaking offshore wind project? If you have completed an offshore wind farm in Europe since the start of 2018 then we want to hear about it. Is your project notable for its size or its innovative technology? Judges are looking for an offshore wind project that has delivered outstanding results for all of its stakeholders and is helping push the industry forward.
Onshore Team of the Year
Does your team consistently deliver impressive results in onshore wind? Does it have a strong record of innovation in the industry? Or maybe you assembled a team for a specific project and they delivered stunning results? Judges are looking for a team that has excelled in onshore wind. This team can be from within one company, or a partnership of many on a particular scheme.
Offshore Team of the Year
Does your team consistently deliver impressive results in offshore wind? Does it have a strong record of innovation in the industry. Or maybe you assembled a team for a specific project and they delivered stunning results? Judges are looking for a team that has excelled in onshore wind. This team can be from within one company, or a partnership of many on a particular scheme.
Onshore Deal of the Year
Have you expanded your onshore wind operations with a corporate M&A deal? Have you bought a project and boosted returns with smart asset management? Did you deliver a complex financial structure to make a deal happen? Judges will be looking for a deal that demonstrates exceptional performance, including M&A, project finance, power purchase agreements and more.
Offshore Deal of the Year
Have you worked on the most exciting offshore wind deal of the last 12 months? Were you able to successfully exit a project? Perhaps you brought new investors into offshore wind in Europe? Or were you able to secure an innovative power purchase agreement? Judges will be looking for a deal that wowed Europe’s offshore wind industry, and will consider a wide range of deal types.
Innovation Award
Have you developed a product or service that is set to revolutionise wind in Europe and beyond? Did you complete a project that shows others in the onshore and/or offshore wind industry how it should be done? Are you doing things that your rivals never even thought of? Judges are looking for a firm or individual that is bringing exciting and profitable innovations to the mainstream.
Community Engagement Award
Is your wind project delivering great community benefits? Have you communicated the benefits of your scheme in such a way that you were able to win over a hostile community? Or did your approach to engagement mean it was never an issue? Judges will be looking for a company that can show how its approach to engagement has enhanced both project returns and social capital.
Communications / PR Campaign of the Year
Have you delivered a communications / PR campaign in the wind industry that has developed excellent results? Whether it is a campaign that has delivered a strong return on investment, or helped to shift perceptions of the wind industry among the wider public, we want to hear about it. Judges will be looking for an impressive campaign that has delivered outstanding results.
Commitment to Skills & Training Award
Judges in this award will be looking to recognise an organisation that can demonstrate a strong commitment to the skills and training of its employees. They will be looking for evidence of:
- Investment and commitment to the training and development of their team.
- New / innovative approaches to training and development.
- Staff testimonials and evidence of positive impact on staff and their lives.
- Evidence of how investment in staff and development has helped their financial results.
Impact Award
Does your company set the agenda that others in the industry follow? Are you making the case for the importance of the wind industry, both to the people within it and to those that it serves? Does what you do have an impact on others? Judges are looking for an outstanding company or individual that can show they are having a positive impact on the growth of the wind industry.
Rising Star / Young Personality of the Year
Who are the wind industry’s stars of the future? Who’s already making a name for themselves and is heading for the top? We want to find the professionals under the age of 35 (as of 1st June 2019) who are achieving great results and are leading the industry at a young age. Judges will be looking for individuals that can show innovation, influence and strong business performance.

Which individual in Europe has had the biggest impact on the wind industry in the last year?
This award builds on the success of our Top 100 Power People and power list programmes. We are looking for the inspiring professionals who are admired by their peers for their innovations, influence and strong business performance, whether they’re an investor, manufacturer, developer or someone else. Who is leading the way, challenging convention and shaping wind’s future?
